Ganesan is a seasoned performer on mridangam, and his harmonious playing style is coveted by dancers around the world.
He has played for numerous dancers, including Uma Dhandayuthapaani, Parvathi Ravi Ganta Sala, K.J.Sarasa, Indra Rajan, and Suriya Narayana Murthy. Ganesan has performed for the renowned Natyanjali festivals around Tamil Nadu, as well as for various festivals and performances around India and abroad. Ganesan is adept at identifying members and managing a team of musicians to bring the best orchestra accompaniment to the stage of a dancer. His jathi compositions are also coveted by dancers and dance teachers, alike. With his own expertise in music and mridangam and his leadership strengths, Ganesan has been regularly providing expert accompaniment to students of dance for over a decade in India and since 2011 during his annual tours to the USA. Ganesan is sought after by instrumentalists and vocalists alike for his instinctive talent and synergic style. As an accompanist to musicians, he has performed extensively with the likes of Maharajapuram Ramachandran, Charulatha Mani, Uma Maheswaran, Veena Revathi Krishnan, Veena Rajesh Vaidhiya, Veena B.Kannan, Kumbakonam Sankararaman, Mandolin & Saxophone Janarthanan, Kadappa Raghavendran, Saxophone Sisters, Nadaswaram Ramesh, Vocal Ramya, Violin Sikkil Balasubramaniyam, T.V.Sundravalli, Vishalakshi Nithyanandam, etc.
Ganesan's innate talent and open-mindedness as a performer have laid the foundation for several collaborative projects. Most recently, he led a Carnatic-Jazz Jam Performance at the Phoenix Art Museum (USA, September, 2016), easily stringing together the music of Carnatic violin and flute with Jazz guitar and saxophone. His communicative playing and final solo rendering pulled the audience into the performance and brought them to their feet. |
